What is a Prosthodontist?

A prosthodontist is a specialist in replacing missing teeth and recontructing broken down teeth. Prosthodontists receive up to three years of additional education in addition to dental school. As a member of the American College of Prosthodontics, a member the Academy of Osseointegration, and a member of the American Dental Association, Dr. Appleton provides only the highest level of restorative and prosthetic dentistry for his patients.

Prosthodontists specialize in conducting procedures that utilize crowns, bridges, veneers, inlays, onlays, dental implants, and complete and partial dentures. Depending on the patient’s situation, Dr. Appleton will replace a missing tooth or several teeth, repair existing damaged teeth, and completely refashion an entire smile to ensure full function and best esthetics.

Each new patient receives a comprehensive examination of every tooth. We use radiographs to map out the anatomical structure of a patient’s dental system, including the jaw and teeth, to ensure each patient’s dental health rests on a strong foundation. During this time, Dr. Appleton interviews each patient, getting to know their dental and medical history and find out their goals.
